Mountain Climbing Equipment

The following list is a general guide to what should be taken. Consider it may rain when you go up the mountain:

  • Sleeping Bags (three or four season, if three then a liner is recommended)
  • Walking Sticks
  • Water Bottles (for hot water)
  • Warm heavy weight gloves
  • Balaclava
  • Thermal hiking socks
  • Sun glasses (mountaineering)
  • Boots (not so heavy but should be water proof and warm inside)
  • Jacket/ Sweater (wool)
  • Waterproof jacket (with a hood) & pants
  • Warm scarf
  • Torch with long battery life
  • Good walking shoes (running/tennis shoes are fine) and sandals
  • Moisturizing cream and suntan lotion
  • Insect repellent (e.g. Tabard, Rid, Jungle Juice, OFF, etc.)
  • Basic medical kit (e.g. painkillers, aspirins, plasters, Imodium, antiseptic cream, and Anti-histamine cream, etc.)
  • Warm head cover
  • Mittens
  • Thermal underwear
  • Gaiters
  • Walking poles
  • Toilet roll
  • Wet wipes
  • Small wash kit and a small daypack
  • Camera - Always have a new battery in your camera when going into cold areas at high altitude.
  • Optional: a hat with a brim
