Aberdare Country Club [ Aberdare, Kenya ]

Aberdare Country Club is on the slopes of Kamatongu Hill in the Mweiga area of Nyeri.

It is about three-hour drive from Nairobi. Its cottages offer impressive views of the plains below.

The Aberdare range of mountains is to the West and Mt Kenya to the East.

Originally, the club was the private residence of a wealthy English family and is one of the first hotels built in colonial Kenya.

The Club's 1300-acre wildlife sanctuary abounds with Thompson and Grant's gazelles, zebras, impala, ostrich, warthog, bush pig giraffes and the more reclusive leopards. It is a haven of unhurried charm set in a garden bursting with profusion of colour, with peacocks stalking the green lush lawns.

The Aberdare Country Club also has many different varieties of birds.
